Which mode should I choose?
AES-GCM. It also detects tampering. Use CBC only for compatibility with older systems.
Can I decrypt this with other tools?
Yes, if they use the same format: PBKDF2-SHA256 with 250,000 iterations, then salt + IV + ciphertext in Base64.
Is it secure?
AES itself is strong. Security depends on your password, so use a long, unique one and share it separately.
